The Big 38

I am now the big 38. Only two years til 40. I had a good birthday. I got to sleep in until 8 o'clock. I drank a little too much the night before so I needed it. Friday night we went to Bailey's Taproom and then Laurelwood Market for dinner. It was awesome. On Saturday, we took the boys to Big Al's for some bowling and video games. Greg beat me by 2 pins, he bowled 114 and I bowled 112. Bowling is the one game that I usually beat him at :-) Later that evening, The Thompson's came over for pizza and cherry chip cake. It was a fun day.

This Week

This has been a pretty tough week with the kids. Ryan has been in a particularly bad mood which is hard on everyone. Greg was out of town until Wed night and I had to parent help on Thursday at the boys school, which always exhausts me. They had to miss school on Tuesday because Ian was up all Monday night with the croup and Ryan was still getting over his ear infection. I am hoping that we can have healthy kids again soon, I cannot believe how much illness we have had these last few months.

Chuck E. Cheese

So on a whim, I decided to take the kids to Chuck E. Cheese's today. I had no idea what to expect. The last time I went to a Chuck E. Cheese's was when I was a little kid and all I remember is that it was dark and there were tons of different rooms and it seemed really run down. This was a totally different experience then last time. This was one big room, which is perfect when you have young kids that wonder off. They loved riding the different rides and both of them were mesmerized by the singing mouse. It was really cute. I love that we got to experience this together and I am so happy they enjoyed it....me too :-)

John's Incredible Pizza Adventure

Today we took a trip to John's Incredible Pizza and it truly is an INCREDIBLE place. We had it mostly to ourselves which was nice. Most of the games were a bit too complicated for the boys, but they loved the rides and we spent tons of time riding the merry go round and other small rides. They won tons of tickets and were able to pick out some dinosaurs to play with at home. We did an experiment in the bath tub to see if they would sink or float and they actually floated. I thought they would sink, shows what I know! It was such a fun day. We will definitely go back. They don't have gluten free pizza yet, but they said they are working on it. Hopefully soon. I did let Ryan have some regular pizza.

Choo Choo to the Zoo Zoo

We woke up to a cold morning but it wasn't raining so we decided to take advantage and go to the zoo. Ian wanted to ride the Max train to the zoo so we went to Sunset Transit Center and rode one stop to the zoo. It was FREEZING but we didn't care. We toured around and found lots of fun things to do. We had a blast riding the choo choo choo to the zoo zoo zoo!

Mickey D's

I took the boys for their first trip to McDonal's. Since that time, Ryan has asked to go back almost every day. He loved the McNuggets and fries and they both enjoyed playing there. We were there for over an hour until the got in a fight at the top of the play gym and then we went home. I can't wait to take them back. It was a great excuse for me to get to eat some yummy fries. I haven't been to McDonald's in years, it was awesome.

ER Visit

Well the holiday's must be over and it is back to life as usual......and what would be more unusual then a trip to the ER with Ian. Poor kid. First thing this morning he was helping me cut up kiwi and we had a little accident with the knife. Of coarse it was the super sharp, tomato knife. He started screaming and there was blood everywhere. After a quick inspection I knew it was deep and might need stitches so I went and quickly dressed and threw the kids in the car and headed to St. V's. Thankfully, Jeff was able to meet us there and take Ryan back home and then later he was able to go over to the Yahna's and spend some time with Jason and Ryder. I am so thankful that they were both available and able to help. Greg flew out to California early this morning so he got a frantic message after his plan landed. Luckily, by then we knew he was going to be okay. The doctor said "no stitches" which really shocked me. They basically cleaned it up, and put some special bandages on it and told me it would begin healing in 48 hours. I am so relieved. In retrospect I guess I over reacted and probably could have waited until our doctor or the urgent care opened. It is so hard to think logically in a crisis when it involves your kids and you are alone. He is a super brave little guy and I am so proud of him.

Happy New Year

It's the new year....2012. I have a lot of goals this year; including potty training Ryan & Ian, working out more often, taking some vacations both family, friends and with Greg, cleaning out the house and getting organized. I always feel very motivated in the beginning of the year, it is the end of the year that I always stumble.
We had a nice new years eve. Very mellow. Greg made carnitas in the pressure cooker and we enjoyed a nice dinner together after the boys went to bed. We watched the Chopped Finale on the food network and then went to bed around 10:45. That is later then most years. Still kind of lame, but it is so impossible to sleep in anymore and I hate feeling exhausted. I am actually beginning to enjoy quiet new years at home (must be growing up). We ended up not going to Bend as originally planned due to the lingering illnesses but are hoping to take a trip out there in the next few weeks.
