School Days

Ryan and Ian just finished their third day of preschool and they both are doing so well. I was very doubtful after the upsetting first day, but the last two days have been great. I wasn't there (that could have helped) so I am going on what the teachers have said, but it sounds like they are starting to get into the routine. Ryan even seemed engaged during circle time.....amazing! It has been weighing so heavily on my mind, so nothing could make me happier then to hear about their small successes!!

Last night I went to the first Junior League meeting of the year. I am not on a committee this year, but I still want to stay involved as much as my schedule permits. I am hoping to participate in our Volunteer In Portland Day on Saturday October 22nd at the Children's Relief Nursery. It has been awhile since I gave any volunteer time to the community so I really hope it works out.

Greg has been working and traveling a lot. He likes his new job, but he is going to be VERY busy for awhile. I had to laugh as we literally passed each other on the stairs a few mornings ago.....2 ships passing! We have a date night on Saturday so I am really looking forward to that.

Tomorrow I am meeting some high school friends for a playdate. I am looking forward to reconnecting with some of my PHS friends :-)

First Day of Preschool

Ryan and Ian had their first day of Preschool at Small Friends School on Thursday. Ian did really well and listened and followed instructions really well. He was smiling and playing all day. Ryan did great during the free play time but he really struggled with any of the organized activities. He was the most upset I have ever seen him. It was very unusual. I knew he would struggle a bit with the transitions but I was unprepared for how upset he would be. I just happened to be parent helping that day, which I think made the situation a little worse for everyone. After class the teachers spoke with me and we are going to see how the next few classes go. I contacted Ryan's early intervention case worker and he is going to help with this transition. I think it will just take him some time to get used to the routine of school. I am hopeful that he will be able to continue on at Small Friends, but I am going to start researching other programs, just in case. It was an extremely hard day for me. I am thankful for good friends to talk to who listen and remind me it was only the first day! More to come on this. Here are a few pictures before the meltdown!

Beach Trip with Nana

Tuesday we drove to Cannon Beach to enjoy the day. It was just me, Ryan, Ian and My Mom (Nana). We had a wonderful time. It was a little cool, but there was NO wind which was awesome. We spent some time playing on the beach, the boys found a log in the water that entertained them for quite awhile. We had lunch and ice cream cones and then played at the playground and ran around at the skate park. It was an amazing day out with the family.

Labor Day Weekend

The McKeone's, Mills' and Clark's got together for a BBQ over labor day weekend. It was so much fun to spend time with the family. Gabe is getting big and he is so cute. Corie and Dan are doing really good and have settled into a great routine. It was a beautiful day filled with a lot of love. I find myself wishing that everyone lived closer so we could make that a weekly event.
